Methodology — how we built these numbers

Each tier total is our estimate of lodging and on-the-ground daily spending (food, transport, tours, spa) for a 7-night honeymoon in Hawaii, in US dollars per couple. The figures come from the cost sections of our destination guides. They are estimates, not quotes.

The split: we count 60% of each tier total as lodging and the other 40% as daily spend, spread evenly across the 7 nights. That split is our own rule of thumb, not a measured figure.

Flights are shown separately because they vary heavily by origin city and how far ahead you book. The flight estimate above is for a US-origin round-trip per person, doubled for the couple.

January, February and December bring the wetter winter season and holiday-peak prices. June, July and August bring peak-season crowds and prices (it is the dry season).

In March and November, just outside the best months, the weather is less reliable and prices are often lower than at the busiest time of year.
